Mt Sapola was named after the mountain where natural soap was first discovered by the ancient Romans. The Romans were the first to discover soap at the bottom of this mountain when a clay-like substance of fat trickled down the mountain into the river through raindrops. This produced a foaming substance that made their clothes cleaner – the precursor to modern-day soap. With this, Mt Sapola produced the first batch of their natural handmade soap in 1997. Today, production has expanded to a wide-range of naturopathic spa products to support its global network of retail stores in Europe (Paris, Geneva, Milan, Venice, Italy), Australia, America (Cananda) and Asia (China, Thailand, Hong Kong, Japan, Vietnam and Singapore).
